Queen Elizabeth II, President Steinmeier, President Macron and President Mattarella congratulate Acting President Osmani on Independence Day

Acting President Vjosa Osmani has received congratulatory telegrams on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of Kosovo's independence from Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, from the German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Sergio Mattarella.

In her telegram, Queen Elizabeth II congratulates the people of Kosovo on Independence Day and expresses her hope for overcoming the challenges of the pandemic.

German President Steinmeier stressed Kosovo's progress in the European integration process, in his congratulatory telegram.

“Decisive and sustainable reforms to strengthen the rule of law, as well as the normalization of relations with Serbia, are still essential for a continuance on this path. “The resumption of the dialogue last year with the mediation of the EU was an important step”, states the German president's telegram.

His French counterpart, President Macron, congratulates the people of Kosovo on Independence Day and stresses the importance of resumption the dialogue with Serbia.

“I would like to welcome Kosovo's engagement in the dialogue with Serbia since its resumption, following the summit that Chancellor Merkel and I held on July 10th, 2020. I fully support the mediation of the European Union and of the special representative for dialogue, Mr. Miroslav Lajçak, aiming to achieve a comprehensive, final and legally binding agreement”, states President Macron's telegram.

The Italian President Mattarella also congratulated the people of Kosovo on the 13th anniversary of independence, emphasizing support for the dialogue process with Belgrade.
