President Thaçi: Security Force is incarnated into the desire for freedom and readiness to defend it

Prishtina, June 13th 2019 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of liberty, inspected and addressed the soldiers of the Republic of Kosovo.

President Thaçi said that these days we are marking the 20 years since the end of the genocide and ethnic cleansing perpetrated by the state of Serbia, 20 years of peace and freedom.

“We are marking the 20th anniversary of the return of 1 million citizens of Kosovo to their homes, of the rebuilding of our home sand of our lives, of the ending of the chapter of tragedies and sufferings and of opening of the chapter of hope and endeavouring for a better life,” said President Thaçi.

The head of state said that Kosovo Security Force is incarnated to the desire for liberty and with the readiness to defend this freedom, for every citizen of Kosovo, in all of Kosovo’s corners.

“Kosovo Security Force today is a professional force, of NATO standards, a multi-ethnic force, which perfectly reflects the Kosovo which we have built together. These days we remember the past but we are also looking towards the future. We have achieved a lot during these 20 years. We have built the state institutions and have rebuilt the society. We have laid the foundations of the economic development and of the rule of law,” said President Thaçi.

The head of state said that we have realised the aspirations for freedom and for an independent state, and are now working towards our membership in NATO and EU.

“The journey will not ne neither easy nor short. We must conclude the reforms in economy, justice and in politics. We must conclude the international consolidation of our state starting with the membership in the United Nations. We have built good relations with our neighbours, Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia. We are working on a comprehensive, final, peaceful and legally binding agreement with Serbia. We want to close the chapters of conflict and tragedy of the centuries gone. To open the chapter of the new century, of the life in liberty, equality development and prosperity,” said President Thaçi.

The President also said that this is our common aspiration and our common duty.

“This is our dedication to the citizens of Kosovo. May we long enjoy our freedom,” ended President Thaçi.
