President Thaçi pays homage at the tomb of Adem Demaçi: he was the father of Kosovo’s independence

President of the country, Hashim Thaçi, paid homage today at the tomb of the activist Adem Demaçi.

President Thaçi said that a year has already passed without the symbol of the national resistance, Adem Demaçi, the man who dedicated all of his life to the freedom, independence and building of the state of Kosovo.

President Thaçi said that Adem Demaçi was the father of Kosovo’s independence.

“The value and the contribution of Adem Demaçi will be honoured and remembered forever by the state of Kosovo, just as today, with state honours, and at the same time it will be a respected and highly praised by the Albanian nation, as it shall be valued forever by the democratic world,” said President Thaçi.

The head of state said that each honouring of Adem Demaçi is a honouring of the sacrifice of all those who fell for Kosovo’s freedom during the Kosovo Liberation Army war, and for the sufferings at the Serbian prisons and holding cells.

“At the same time it gives us new energies to move faster ahead in internal and external consolidation of our state, towards a definite perspective for NATO and European Union, as well as permanent relations with United States of America, “ said the President.
