Prishtina, December 15, 2018 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, one day after the voting in the Kosovo Assembly for the new mandate of the Kosovo Security Force, paid homage to the statue of the Kosovo hero, Zahir Pajaziti, to the tomb of former President Ibrahim Rugova and the tomb of prominent activist Adem Demaçi, as well as the Jashari family cemetery in Prekaz.
President Thaçi said that yesterday was a historical moment and decision, but also completely normal for an independent and sovereign country.
The Head of State said that the best possible thing to do today, on this first day, is honouring and respecting the freedom fighters and distinguished personalities who have given great contribution to Kosovo.
“We are together here today with the fellow fighter and former commander Rrustem Mustafa – Remi, the MP, to honor and respect, and to prove once again our dedication that the fight and efforts of the martyrs of freedom, their will for the objective of freedom, independence, sovereignty and the army is being made true”, said President Thaçi, after the homage to Zahir Pajaziti’s statue.
The Head of State then also paid honours to the tomb of former President Ibrahim Rugova, and the tomb of prominent activist Adem Demaçi.
And, later, accompanied by the Mayor of Skenderaj, Bekim Jashari and former Mayor Sami Lushtaku, President Thaçi also paid homage to the graves of the Jashari family in Prekaz.
“Like nowhere else in Albanian areas, Prekaz and the sacrifice of legendary commander Adem Jashari and the Jashari family is the place of respect, sacrifice, but at the same time of the highest appreciation for the achievements of Kosovo’s freedom, independence, sovereignty and from yesterday the army of Kosovo”, said President Thaçi.
These processes and achievements, according to President Thaci, so far are the result of the KLA war, of the freedom fighters, the martyrs’ families, the veterans and all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.
President Thaçi said that the objectives and the will of the martyrs of freedom, of the KLA commanders, the fighters fallen in trenches, for the consolidation of our state, for the development and integration into NATO and the European Union are being made true.
