Prishtina, October 19th 2020 – President of the country, Hashim Thaçi met today with the President of the Central Electoral Commission, Valdete Daka.
President Thaçi and Ms. Daka discussed the possibilities for the organisation of early elections for the Mayor of Municipalities of Podujevë and North Mitrovica.
Based on Article 6 of the Law No. 03/L-094 on the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Article 4 of the Law No. 03/L-072 on Local Elections in the Republic of Kosovo, and taking into consideration the request made by the Central Electoral Commission, The President of the Republic of Kosovo had postponed the early elections for the posts of Mayor in the Municipality of Podujevë and Municipality of North Mitrovica, as prevention of spreading of the COVID-19 pandemic.
