President Thaçi met with Chairwoman Daka, CEC ready if elections shall be held

Prishtina, July 31st – President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, met today with the Chairwoman of the Central Electoral Commission, Valdete Daka, with whom he discussed the readiness of this institution to organise snap elections, if need shall arise.

President Thaçi pointed out that in compliance with the constitutional obligation arising from Article 95, he shall utilise all opportunities to, in consultation with political parties represented in the parliament of Kosovo, find a response to the new political reality.

“If political parties are not able to provide an answer to this new political reality in a reasonable time frame, I am ready to immediately proclaim new elections,” said President Thaçi.

He also added that he is informed by Chairwoman Daka that CEC is ready to organise snap elections at any time.

President Thaçi also stated that it is crucial that Kosovo gets a new, functional efficient and as all-encompassing government, in order to move forwards the important processes.
