New York, September 21, 2017 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi has participated in the sixth meeting of the leaders of the Western Balkan countries, hosted by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, which was held in New York.
The President has expressed the assurance that Kosovo remains committed to fulfill all the criteria for the membership of Kosovo into the EU. At the same time, the President has openly expressed his dissatisfactions with the isolation and the lack of a clear perspective for Kosovo’s EU membership.
He stressed that the citizens of Kosovo are mostly feeling this isolation, being the only ones in Europe to whom the right to visa-free travel is denied.
President Thaçi emphasized that Kosovo, however, remains committed to achieve the objectives of its European path.
He recalled that every delay in the integrating of the region into the EU can bring insecurity to the region.
