President Thaçi meets Prime Minister Abe, express pleasure on rapprochement between the two countries

Tokyo, October 21st – President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, was received at the commencement of his official visit to Japan, by the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, during which he will also attend the enthronement of the Emperor Naruhito.

President Thaçi and Prime Minister Abe at this meeting confirmed the good bilateral relations between the two countries.

President Thaçi conveyed condolences to the Prime Minister Abe for the victims of the most recent typhoon.

He also said that he is pleased with the advancement of relations between the two countries.

“Opening of the Embassy of Japan in Prishtina early next year and the successful summit of the Japanese, Kosovar and Austrian businesses in Vienna at the beginig of this month, are a confirmation of this advancement,” said President Thaçi.

Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, also expressed his pleasure with the intensification of cooperation and support between the two countries.

“Opening of our embassy in Prishtina, the successful business summit and the Week of the Japanese Culture which will be held month are a confirmation of our rapprochement, “stated Prime Minister Abe.

President Thaçi also pointed out that Kosovo supports Prime Minister Abe in regional issues and in conclusion of open issues such as kidnaping of Japanese citizens by North Korea.
