President Thaçi meets former President Bush, awards him with the Order of Independence

Dallas, November 30, 2018 - The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, in the framework of the official visit to the United States of America, had a meeting with former US President George W. Bush

President Thaçi and former President Bush have discussed about the political developments in Kosovo and the region.

“The respect for the wonderful family Bush will be eternal for the Kosovo Albanians”, said President Thaçi.

In addition to evoking many memories from the not very distant past, President Thaçi and former President Bush also focused on the current efforts to secure a safe and peaceful future.

“In the context of these efforts, we agreed that it is necessary to reach the final binding agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, which would mark the ending of the one-century conflict, mutual recognition and Kosovo’s membership in the UN, NATO and EU”, the president Thaçi said.

The Head of State has added that the achievement of this agreement is not easy at all.

On the other hand, referring to the decision-making of Kosovo’s leadership, former President Bush has said that “you as leaders will not be kept in mind for the populist decisions, but for the hard and right decisions you take for your country and people”.

For the contribution given to the freedom and independence of Kosovo, President Thaçi has awarded former President Bush with the Order of Independence.
