Prishtina, May 06, 2018 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, attended today the Memorial Academy on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the fall of martyr Luan Haradinaj, which was organized by the KLA War Associations.
President Thaçi has said that Luan Haradinaj represents a rare personality of the National Movement, who was a role model, a man of dignity, virtue and national pride.
He added that Luan Haradinaj was among the first activists and co-founder of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
“I personally met Luan in 1996 through Kadri Veseli. We met in Tirana and then crossed the border several times together with Kadri and Luan, who had often crossed Albania-Kosovo earlier, and then sheltered in the bases of the Kosovo Liberation Army in Gllogjan or Jabllanicë. There, or somewhere deep in the mountains, as always, we were expected by Shkelzen, Lahi or Daut”, said President Thaçi.
President Thaçi has emphasized that Luan was a man of few words, but an unprecedented brave man, the man who broke and pulled down the Albanian-Albanian stone.
“It couldn’t have happened otherwise, he was from a proven patriotic family, his uncle Ismajl, had spent long years in Serbian prisons”, the President added.
The Head of State said that today the state of Kosovo honors and respects with the highest state recognitions the KLA emblem, Luan Haradinaj.
President Thaçi at the end has said that Luan Haradinaj is the most monumental personification for the liberation, freedom and independence of Kosovo.
