Washington, February 25, 2020 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, has had a meeting with the experts of Brookings Institute, one of the most important think tanks in the United States of America, with whom he talked about Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic perspective.
President Thaçi said the role of the USA remains indispensable in the efforts to achieve lasting peace in the Western Balkans, adding that Kosovo is free and independent, but that Kosovo’s success story will be closed when the country is integrated into NATO and the EU.
Likewise, President Thaçi remarked that the EU is lagging behind with Kosovo and the entire Western Balkans region and this is undermining the confidence in EU institutions and is diminishing the EU’s power to influence the region.
“The final peace agreement between Kosovo and Serbia is the key to peace, stability, economic development and the Euro-Atlantic perspective of Kosovo and the entire region”, stated President Thaçi.
Brookings Institute is one of the most influential think tanks in the United States of America, while talks with experts of this institute influence decision-making and policy recommendations in Washington.
