President Thaçi: Ambassador Walker showed the crimes of Serbia to the world

Prishtina, January19th 2020 – President of the country, Hashim Thaçi, received today Ambassador William Walker, former Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo.

President Thaçi said that he is always humbly grateful for Ambassador Walker’s emblematic and monumental words on the truth he presented to the world on Reçak massacre and genocide perpetrated by Serbia in Kosovo.

“We had the opportunity to work together during the war as well in overcoming of difficult situations and I feel good that my co fighters have kept their word in relation to cooperation with Ambassador Walker and with all the internationals at that time period. Of course, Ambassador Walker is at times critical to us involved in politics, but these criticisms are always welcome, as they help us improve. We have loved him and respected him even when he criticized us, and we highly praise the work and engagements of Ambassador Walker undertaken on behalf of the state of Kosovo and people of Kosovo, as he wants to see Kosovo well consolidated. I believe that Ambassador’s interest in building of new institutions, of the new government, is very legitimate and just, as is our intention to move ahead faster,” said President Thaçi.

On the other hand, Ambassador William Walker thanked President Thaçi and stated that he visits Kosovo as often as he can and is very proud for all that been achieved in these twenty years.

I criticise on things which could have been better, but I am very proud on what Republic of Kosovo is today, particularly in what it was twenty one years ago. Today I visited the President. Yesterday I was in Krusha, and heard about what had happened there, similar to, if not worse than Reçak. I continue to learn new things about Kosovo. This is one of the reasons why I come here. I also come here to learn about what happens politically, you are at the moment in the middle of a politically very interesting time; I think that Kosovo needs a government. You have lost one hundred days. Today is the one hundred and first or one hundred and second day and I hope that it will not take more time for the government to be formed,” said Ambassador Walker.

President Thaçi added that Ambassador Walker’s frequent visits to Kosovo demonstrate his dedication, love and respect for Kosovo and for our nation.
