President Thaçi accepted the credentials of the new Ambassador of the USA, Philip S. Kosnett

Prishtina, December 03, 2018 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, accepted today the credentials of the new US Ambassador to Kosovo, Philip Kosnett.

President Thaçi said that, last week, he had the pleasure to meet Ambassador Kosnett twice in Washington, once in a joint meeting with Secretary Pompeo and then during his oath at the US State Department.

“I am very grateful for the messages he has sent from Washington for Kosovo, but also in the short talk we have conducted today. Ambassador Kosnett is a lucky man to serve in a country with the most pro-American population in the world”, said President Thaçi.

The Head of State stressed that Ambassador Kosnett has served earlier in Kosovo and knows Kosovo.

“I am very grateful to you, honored Ambassador, for the continued support of the United States of America, consistently in the last three decades. I believe that we will also accomplish the third chapter after the freedom and independence, the one of Kosovo’s integration into NATO and the Euro-Atlantic structures, on a joint and coordinated agenda”, said President Thaçi.

On the other hand, the new US Ambassador, Philip Kosnett, said it is a great honor for him and his family to be in Kosovo.

“As you noted, I served briefly at the American Embassy in Kosovo 15 years ago. It is an extraordinary honour and pleasure to be back, to see the progress that Kosovo has already made, on the path towards prosperity, justice, peace and in establishing good relations with its neighbors. I look forward to the opportunity to work closely with you, with the ministries and also with the people of Kosovo in addition to the government, to make clear that the United States is here to support you. The partnership between the United States and Kosovo is without compare in the world, there are no two countries that are closer friends than United States and Kosovo”, stated Ambassador Kosnett.

President Thaçi wished good luck to the new US Ambassador in Kosovo, and said he eagerly looks forward to start joint commitments on a well-coordinated agenda, which implies good neighborliness with the neighbors, economic development, order and law, the Euro-Atlantic future, multiethnic life with a harmony between people and above all a clear and fair direction for our country.
