President Sejdiu receives the OSCE Secretary General, Mr. Marc Perrin de Brichambaut

“Our and Republic of Kosovo people and institutions’ permanent vision is a speedy integration into international institutions, such as the OSCE” – the President of Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu, said during a meeting that he had today with the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Mr. Marc Perrin de Brichambaut.

“Republic of Kosovo has achieved multiple results since the declaration of its independence and has developed into an important factor of peace and stability in the region” – President Sejdiu pointed out, using the opportunity to thank Mr. Brichambaut for the continuous support that the OSCE has and is providing to Kosovo.

Speaking of overall developments and progress made in the country, President Sejdiu reminded that Kosovo has already been recognized by 64 countries around the world and that it has become a member of important international institutions, such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

“Recently we had municipal elections, which were organized, for the first time, by sovereign institutions of our country, and during which the citizens have demonstrated, once again, a high level of political maturity” – President Sejdiu added.

He also asserted that accession to the European Union and NATO remains a permanent objective for Kosovo and that, consequently, “their commitment to implementing the standards set by these institutions was unreserved”.

On the other hand, Mr. Brichambaut assured President Sejdiu of the OSCE’s commitment to maintain its support to Kosovo in the future in all areas.
