President Osmani: We owe justice to every girl and woman who suffered the violence at the hands of those who are taking their lives and getting away with impunity

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani has reacted to the murder of the 18-year-old from Ferizaj.

The head of state said that there must be justice for the 18-year-old girl who was killed in Ferizaj.

According to Madam President, only the hand of justice and punishment for those who are committing these gruesome crimes against women and girls in Kosovo can change the sad situation of inequality we face today in Kosovo.

“We can not remain silent or continue to allow the treatment of these cases as family matters. We are witnessing killings as a result of the perpetrators evading the law, hence this situation must end. As the President of the country, I appeal to every citizen to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in finding the killer of the victim from Ferizaj. “I call on all responsible institutions to work hard and incessantly till the perpetrators of such acts are behind bars,” said the President.

Following is President Osmani's post in its entirety:

Violence against girls and women threatens peace for all and the general well-being, but our society must be steadfast and determined to eliminate all forms of discrimination and violence against girls and women.

To the members of the family and friends of the deceased girl I expressed my sincere condolences! Her soul will rest in peace only when justice will be served. We owe justice to every girl and woman who suffered the violence at the hands of those who are taking their lives and getting away with impunity.
