The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani Sadriu, within the cycle of visits to the municipalities of the country, visited today the municipality of Peja where she was received by the mayor of this municipality, Gazmend Muhaxheri.
After the meeting, President Osmani and President Muhaxheri attended a number of activities.

Today we were in Peja as part of the cycle of visits to municipalities. This city is one of the most visited tourist spots in the country, so with the mayor Gazmend Muhaxheri we discussed the current capacities offered by this municipality and the possibilities of support by the central level.
Then together we visited the “March 8th”, school and the exhibition by children with special needs, in honor of International Children's Day.
To further renew the friendship between Kosovo and Australia, together with the Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of Australia, Mr. Andrea Biggi, as well as representatives of women's organizations, we planted the manuka tree in Kosovo. Then I visited the vocational demining school MAT Kosova, where currently seven women and 5 Ukrainian men are attending mine clearance and explosives risk management training.
Impressive was the will and passion of these men and women, who after training will aim to clear Ukraine of mines and unexploded ordnance, providing a safe environment for their compatriots.
Meanwhile, at a meeting with representatives of women's organizations, including representatives of the Serb community, we discussed the importance of women's economic empowerment, commitment and determination for equal rights. Meanwhile, during the visit to the shelter for victims of domestic violence, we reiterated the importance of combating this terrible phenomenon in our society.
During the visit to Peja, we also met with representatives of non-governmental organizations of non-majority communities in the village of Vitomiricë with whom I spoke about the commitment, challenges, needs and institutional involvement.
I closed the visit to Peja at the business venue of the Bajrakatari family in the amazing Radavc, which deals with the cultivation of raspberries and strawberries. The success story of this business is an inspiration for everyone and at the same time a testament to the prosperity that the land of Kosovo offers.
