President Osmani together with Speaker Konjufca paid homage to the memorial complex in Old Çikatova and Poklek

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, together with the
Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca, paid homage today to the
memorial complex in Old Çikatova and Poklek in Drenas.

President Osmani said that the massacre that took place in Old Çikatova is one of the cruellest, horrible massacres of the last war in Kosovo, which clearly proves the extermination goal that Serbia had against the Albanian people in Kosovo.

“Anyone who may have doubts about this goal should just come here to Çikatova, then go to Poklek and see how the Serbs did not spare even the older ones, and did not spare the little children, nor the children’s writers in Poklek, to show that their goal was not only ethnic cleansing, but to eradicate the Albanian people”, said President Osmani.

According to President Osmani, today’s freedom is thanks to the sacrifice of those who gave their lives for the freedom of Kosovo.

“Because, only on the day when there is justice for all those who fell for our freedom, then peace, and also long-term stability in our region will be possible”, said President Osmani.

Whereas, the Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca said that the massacre of Old Çikatova is one of the most barbaric acts of the genocide of Serbia in Kosovo.

“Every time we come here we understand even better the very big price we have paid as people for the freedom of our state, for the freedom of our people. What is worse, it has to do with the fact that there was no justice for the massacre of Çikatova. Many criminals who took part directly in the Çikatova massacre are still free, they are in Serbia, I do not rule out that any of them may be in Kosovo”, said Speaker Konjufca.

President Osmani and President Konjufca, today paid homage in Poklek as well.
The Head of State has said that six months old Liria rests in this cemetery.

“Lirie Muqolli was only six months old when she was brutally killed and then together with over 50 other martyrs were not only killed, but burned, and not only burned, but burned twice, so that they can not even be identified. For such atrocities of burning innocent children, we had heard and read about from the Second World War, from the Holocaust”, said President Osmani

According to the President, this massacre can not be called otherwise than genocide, because it is the clearest evidence of the intention the Serbian genocidal regime had.

“We must say out loud that freedom is not complete. And freedom is not complete because of the lack of justice. And freedom will make sense only on the day when there will be justice for little Liria, only on the day when there will be justice for all the victims of the Serbian genocidal rule, when Serbia apologizes, when it lays flowers and when it accepts the blame for all the massacres in Kosovo against innocent people”, said the President.

She further added that we, as the institutions of Kosovo, must remember every day, and work tirelessly so as not to leave a single stone unturned for justice to be achieved, for Serbia to be brought to justice.

“It is also our obligation to ensure that the institutions gather all the necessary evidence so that Serbia can soon be indicted for genocide. And the whole world should hear from us, regardless of whether we are here today in Kosovo, tomorrow in Washington, in Brussels, in Berlin and everywhere, about the atrocities that Serbia has committed in our country. Because, only by remembering our past, only by remembering everyone who gave life for our homeland, we will be able to work well, fair and honest for those who are alive, for everyone who has survived the Serbian cruelty”, the President emphasized.

Whereas, the Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo said that the massacre of Poklek is one of the most barbaric massacres of the Serbian genocide against the Albanian people of Kosovo.

He further said that anyone who wants to understand the barbarity of the genocide of Serbia in Kosovo should visit Poklek.
