President Osmani: The bravery and sacrifice of the Jashari family will be our eternal guide

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani – Sadriu accompanied by the Speaker of the Assembly Glauk Konjufca, the Prime Minister Albin Kurti, the Government Cabinet and members of the Assembly of Kosovo paid homage at the “Adem Jashari” Memorial Complex in Prekaz.

President Osmani said that we are here today to commemorate the sublime sacrifice of the Jashari family led by the legendary commander Adem Jashari, who showed extraordinary bravery in an extraordinary situation when all of us as citizens of Kosovo were under the genocidal siege by Serbia.

“They were attacked in their home where the vast majority of the family members killed, were women and children, which shows that this was one of the most horrific massacres committed by the genocidal Serbian regime, for which, unfortunately, there is still no justice. But, in addition to our call for justice, we will always have an eternal guide- the bravery and sacrifice of the Jashari family, because what they did for the homeland will remain a light that will illuminate the way forward for generations. Therefore, their glory and remembrance will be eternal,” said President Osmani.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Glauk Konjufca, said that this is exactly the moment when the sacrifice turns into an epic, and when the whole Albanian nation mobilizes and becomes the KLA.

“In this sense, I think that the sacrifice of the Jasharaj's is the most important moment within the liberation struggle of the people of Kosovo for our freedom,” said Konjufca.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that we are here today on the 24th anniversary of the sacrifice of three generations of the Jashari family, who sacrificed themselves for the freedom of Kosovo, united the nation and gave the decisive impetus to the Kosovo Liberation Army.

“This was not the first attack on the Jasharajs. They were attacked by Serbia, led by the Milosevic regime, in December 1991 and January 1998, and all these attacks on the Jasharajs were a joint criminal enterprise by Serbia. “Kosovo Liberation Army has waged a defensive war, and our justice and truth can not be alienated by the distortions that come or from the denials that are made and the wounds left by Serbia's genocide in Kosovo are still open,” said Prime Minister Kurti.

After the homages, President Osmani, President Konjufca and Prime Minister Kurti were received by uncle Rifat Jashari, at the Jasharaj's house.
