The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani spoke with Mahmoud Bah, Acting Chief Executive Officer, and Alexia Latortue, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), who congratulated her on her election as President of Kosovo and expressed their readiness to increase cooperation and support for Kosovo.
President Osmani stressed that the cooperation with US state agencies such as the Millennium Challenge Corporation is proof of the strategic orientation of the Republic of Kosovo for special relations with the United States of America. President Osmani stressed that the priorities of the institutions of Kosovo are reforms in many areas of governance that will enable the creation of new jobs and the rule of law.
The heads of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, Bah and Latortue, emphasized the importance of continuing the cooperation between the institutions of Kosovo and MCC for the implementation of programs that contribute to the energy transition towards clean energy sources. In this regard, President Osmani stressed that one of her main priorities is to address environmental and energy issues for Kosovo to be part of the global environmental agenda and the combating of climate change.
President Osmani and the heads of the US government agency, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, agreed to increase cooperation this year towards finalizing MCC’s new several year program of support for Kosovo. The MCC program to date has assisted Kosovo in two important areas of economic growth and poverty reduction through the implementation of sustainable electricity supply projects and the promotion of transparent and accountable governance.
