President Osmani spoke at the Making the Case for Democracy Panel of the Munich Security Conference

Within the framework of the Munich Security Conference, the President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani spoke as a panellist today about the challenges and commitment to democracy in Europe. In addition to President Osmani, the Prime Minister of Estonia Kaja Kallas and the leader of the opposition in Belarus Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya also spoke on this panel.

President Osmani talked about the importance of democracy from the perspective of the country which has sacrificed a lot to achieve freedom and independence.

In her talk, President Osmani expressed concern about developments in the region, Russian influence in the Western Balkans and destabilizing tendencies coming from Russia's ally Serbia.

Further, President Osmani emphasized that democracy is a key pillar in the state-building efforts of the Republic of Kosovo, as well as a central pillar of the development of the society in our country. President Osmani also spoke about the challenges faced by democratic societies, as well as ways to overcome them.

President Osmani added that common success is achieved through the guarantee of human rights, the opposition of authoritarian powers around the world and close cooperation between democratic peoples. She also mentioned the Summit for Democracy and the commitments the Republic of Kosovo made at this Summit, which will further advance democracy in the country.
