Joint communique of the President, the Speaker of the Assembly and of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo Prishtina, July 27th, 2021
Twenty-one fellow compatriots who survived the tragic accident in Slavonski Brod, Croatia arrived in Kosovo tonight. The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo Glauk Konjufca and Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo Albin Kurti attended their arrival at the “Adem Jashari Pristina International Airport.
The leaders of the institutions expressed their condolences for the lives lost in the tragic accident and wished the injured a speedy recovery, assuring them that institutional care will be provided to them.
President Osmani said that “in the tragedy of Slavonski Brod we did not lose only our fellow compatriots. We lost there a piece of our soul, a part of what is our common pillar and our perpetual pain: the ex-pats.”
On behalf of the citizens of Kosovo, President Osmani expressed her gratitude for the generous assistance provided by all Croatian state institutions in managing of this difficult situation.
The Speaker of the Assembly Glauk Konjufca expressed his condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in the tragic accident and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. “The country's institutions will be close to you to face these difficult moments for all of us together,” said Speaker Konjufca.
The Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti emphasized that for the Albanians in exile, life is a count of days until the next arrival in the homeland.
“No matter how big the distances are, they decrease, because they are measured by the heart. This Sunday, the long road did not bring home an n exiled part of us. It brought pain to all the people. “Today we share this pain together and we stand united in this tragedy, like a big family that we are,” said Prime Minister Kurti to fellow compatriots.
He assured them that the Government will do everything possible to alleviate the pain and consequences of the accident.
The return of fellow compatriots from Croatia to Kosovo was done in joint coordination of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the Government of the Republic of Croatia.
The Government of Kosovo has organized the transportation and escorting of fellow compatriots from the airport to their families and to their places of residence.
