President Osmani received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Nikos Dendias

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani Sadriu received today at a meeting the Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias.

President Osmani stressed that Kosovo and Greece share the same Euro-Atlantic values, and asked for Greek support for membership in the Council of Europe, Partnership for Peace, and NATO, as a guarantee not only for the state of Kosovo but also for the region.

In this context, President Osmani mentioned the danger of the destabilizing tendencies of Russia in Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro via its proxy, Serbia.

Part of the meeting was dedicated to the developments arising from the Russian aggression on Ukraine. President Osmani reiterated the position that Kosovo is fully in line with EU and US sanctions against Russia, expressing support for the Ukrainian people and noting that Kosovo has already hosted a group of journalists from this country, as it is also open to housing other refugees.

At the meeting with Minister Dendias, President Osmani expressed readiness to further expand cooperation, with the hope that the decision to recognize the independence of the Republic of Kosovo from Greece will be formalized soon.

President Osmani at the meeting with Minister Dendias also emphasized the need to increase trade and economic exchange, as well as cooperation in foreign policy, tourism, culture and other areas of mutual interest.
