The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, received today the European Commission Report for Kosovo for the year 2022 from the head of the European Union Office in Kosovo Tomáš Szunyog.
President Osmani reiterated the determination of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo to membership in the European Union, as a state priority of our country. In this direction, President Osmani mentioned the concrete steps taken by the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo to strengthen the rule of law, democracy and human rights.
Ambassador Szunyog emphasized that this year's report recognizes Kosovo's overall progress, especially in the rule of law, both compared to last year and to countries in the region.
On the subject of reforms, President Osmani spoke about the will of the institutions of the Republic to continue the intensive work in the fight against crime and corruption and stated the determination to strengthen the rule of law in all spheres.
President Osmani also added that the Republic of Kosovo will formally apply for membership in the European Union, emphasizing the need to accelerate this process, as well as the urgent need to conclude the visa liberalization process for Kosovo citizens.
Madam President further pointed out that within the framework of the constitutional powers, she will be the guarantor of the realization of these priorities, as she has been to date.
