President Osmani received the credentials of the Portuguese ambassador Jorge Ayres Roza De Oliveira

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today the credentials of the new ambassador of Portugal to Kosovo, Jorge Ayres Roza De Oliveira.

After welcoming the new Portuguese ambassador, President Osmani emphasized that the relations between the two countries are very good and expressed the belief that the positive developments in bilateral relations between Kosovo and Portugal will continue during the tenure of Ambassador De Oliveira.

President Osmani also discussed the process of visa liberalization and membership in the Council of Europe with Ambassador De Oliveira and thanked Portugal for their unreserved support to these two processes and reiterated the position that Kosovo has met all the required criteria and that the recommendation of the European Commission should be taken as a basis for the removal of visa requirement.

According to President Osmani, it is necessary to make political decisions during the Czech Presidency and the entry into force of visa liberalization should not remain hostage to any technicalities.

As for membership in the Council of Europe, President Osmani emphasized that membership in this organization is in function of strengthening freedoms and human rights.

President Osmani and Ambassador De Oliveira also discussed the expansion of cooperation between the two countries in specific areas, such as foreign policy, defense, education, tourism and other spheres of common interest.
