The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani – Sadriu received today the credentials of the Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Kosovo, Jeffrey M. Hovenier.
President Osmani welcomed Ambassador Hovnier, who according to her is very close to the Republic of Kosovo as he has served here before and understands very well the dynamics in our country.
“Kosovo today is very different from Kosovo which Ambassador Hovenier remembers because Kosovo has moved forward, but one thing has remained consistent all this time, and that is our relationship, partnership and friendship with the United States of America. “We have grown and developed as a country, and we will continue to do so because we are blessed to have the United States of America by our side at every step of our journey,” said President Osmani. The head of the country said that the role of the ambassador of the United States of America to Kosovo is essential, to guarantee that our relationship will continue to flourish. “I have the special pleasure to open this new chapter of cooperation and partnership with Ambassador Hovenier. “In this new chapter of cooperation, I hope to further strengthen our bilateral relations, but also to push forward in the region and at the international level the democratic ideals and values ​​in which we jointly believe,” said the President. According to President Osmani, no matter how big or small a state may be, everyone can make an important contribution to peace and security in the region and in the world.
“Our country, the Republic of Kosovo believes in and promotes the values ​​that represent the United States of America. Our two nations believe in democratic freedoms and therefore we are determined to defend them always because we have won them with the greatest effort and sacrifice. I have full confidence that by working closely with you Mr. Ambassador, we can achieve our common goals. “I want to assure you that you will never find more committed and loyal allies than the Republic of Kosovo,” said President Osmani.
After the meeting and the joint conference, President Osmani and Ambassador Hovenier laid a wreath at the statue of the historic President of Kosovo, Dr. Ibrahim Rugova. President Osmani said that as the founder of the state of Kosovo, he knew how to build not only the steps towards our independent and sovereign state but to build sincere friendships, strong friendships which have withstood the test of time and will continue to be nurtured and to flourish further on the by each one of us. “In honor of this great man of our nation, who gave a lot for an independent and sovereign Kosovo, and for the friendships we enjoy today, together with the Ambassador of the United States of America we wanted to, as a symbol of this friendship, place this wreath here together,” said President Osmani.
