The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today in a meeting the Member of the Parliament of Ukraine and at the same time a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Oleksiy Goncharenko, who is currently visiting Kosovo.
At the meeting with the Ukrainian MP, President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo has been side by side with Ukraine since the very commencement of the Russian aggression and that it has supported it in many ways, as well as coordinated political actions with its European and American allies.
The president also pointed out that Kosovo since the beginning of Russia's aggression is on the side of the EU, the USA and democratic countries and has joined the sanctions against Russia.
According to President Osmani, the people of Ukraine are going through an extremely challenging and difficult period facing military aggression and crimes against humanity, and the people of Kosovo have experienced a similar war.
President Osmani emphasized that the people of Kosovo have opened their hearts and doors to refugees from Ukraine. According to her, until now a group of Ukrainian journalists has found shelter in Kosovo, while MAT Kosova is carrying out training of a number of Ukrainian women in the field of demining.
MP Goncharenko informed Madam President of the fact that a group of deputies “Friends of Kosovo” has been established in the Parliament of Ukraine, which will serve as a platform for the expansion of the parliamentary cooperation between the two countries. MP Goncharenko expressed his support for Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe and that he will engage in further extension of support for Kosovo within the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
