President Osmani received at a meeting the ambassadors of several EU countries

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today the representatives of France, Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium and Austria in Kosovo, with whom she discussed the developments following the October 13th meeting of the European Council technical working group on visas regarding the liberalization of visas for citizens of Kosovo. The President will continue the meetings with the other ambassadors of the EU member states during the following days.

At the meeting with the ambassadors of the countries of the European Union President Osmani thanked them for the support given by the EU member states to the Kosovo visa liberalization and recalled that a few days ago the European Commission confirmed in the annual report for Kosovo that it supports the recommendation made for the removal of the visa requirement for Kosovo and the finding that Kosovo has met all the criteria.

President Osmani emphasized the need for political decision-making regarding the liberalization of visas within the EU to be concluded during the Czech EU presidency, knowing that there are no opposing positions from any of the EU member states on this topic.

President Osmani also expressed her belief that the technical requirements raised by some of the EU member states related to ETIAS, the European Travel Information and Authorisation System, do not affect the political decision-making and setting of the date of entry into force of the decision on the liberalization of visas for the citizens of Kosovo, presenting the arguments that an opposite situation would place the citizens of Kosovo in a more discriminatory position.

President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo will be included in ETIAS, like all other countries, the moment that system becomes operational, but without affecting the date of entry into force of the decision on visa liberalization.
