The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani Sadriu commemorated the first post-war mayor of Suharekë and the outstanding activist of Kosovo for the freedom and independence of the country, Ukë Bytyqi, on the 20th anniversary of his assassination.
President Osmani stated that today we commemorate the 20th anniversary of the murder of the first post-war mayor of Suharekë, Ukë Bytyqi, the prominent activist for Kosovo's freedom and independence, the pious activist and like-minded individual and coworker of the historical president of Kosovo, Dr.Ibrahim Rugova
“Ukë was killed together with his two escorts, Bafti Bajrami and Bajram Bytyçi, just one day after he was reconfirmed as the winner in the race to head the municipality. The courage, determination and wisdom of his words remain an example for today's and tomorrow's politicians,” said President Osmani.

Today we commemorate the 20th anniversary of the murder of the first post-war mayor of Suharekë, Ukë Bytyqi, the prominent activist for Kosovo's freedom and independence, the pious activist and like-minded individual and coworker of the historical president of Kosovo, Dr.Ibrahim Rugova.
