During her visit to Portugal, the President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Augusto Santos Silva.
According to President Osmani, the presence of Kosovo with an embassy in this country is in function of intensification of bilateral cooperation and cultivation of good relations between the two nations.
At the meeting with Minister Santos Silva President Osmani also discussed Kosovo's achievements to date, emphasizing the aim of strengthening of the rule of law. Madam President also mentioned comprehensive reforms in the economy. As far as the challenges are concerned, President Osmani stressed that Kosovo faces isolation due to the non-liberalization of visas, emphasizing the fact that all criteria have already been met. Regarding the dialogue with Serbia, President Osmani said that the dialogue must definitely be concluded with an agreement on mutual recognition. President Osmani has asked for Portugal's support on Kosovo's European path, as well as membership in international organizations.
During the talks with the Portuguese Foreign Minister, President Osmani added that Kosovo is interested in finalizing the signing of the first bilateral economic agreement, which deals with the abolition of double taxation. In this context, President Osmani stressed that the two countries can cooperate in the fields of defense, economy, education, tourism, culture, sports and professional trainings.
