During the official visit to Austria, President Vjosa Osmani met with the Minister of Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology, Mrs. Leonore Gewessler, with whom she discussed the Green Agenda, one of the main topics during this visit.
At this meeting, President Osmani stressed the fact the new institutions of the Republic of Kosovo are committed to a green and sustainable future. According to her, the pandemic has proved how important the balance and caretaking between our daily economic activity and the protection of the environment is, in the function of health for the citizens as well.
President Osmani added that Kosovo remains dedicated to implementing the commitments given under the Sofia Declaration on the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans. In this context, she said that its policies will be guided by the principles of the Paris Agreement, although Kosovo has been denied the possibility of its ratification.
According to President Osmani, energy transition, waste management, and conservation and good management of water resources remain some of the main challenges in the country.
While the institutions will be committed to ensuring sustainable solutions, she invited the Minister and partners from the European Union to assist Kosovo in this journey, in terms of expertise, but also in financial terms.
