President Osmani met the United Nations Under-Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani during her visit to New York at the UN headquarters, met the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Mrs. Rosemary DiCarlo.

According to President Osmani, Kosovo is committed to continuing cooperation and coordination with partners and international organizations. She has said that Kosovo is also interested in expanding relations with UN member states and aims the UN membership.

The political and security situation in the region and beyond, the implications of Russia's aggression in Ukraine, the energy and food crisis as well as the dialogue with Serbia were discussed at the meeting.

Part of the discussion at the meeting between President Osmani and Undersecretary DiCarlo was devoted to Russian aggression in Ukraine. President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo has condemned Russia's unprovoked aggression on Ukraine and that, alongside the EU, the USA and democratic states it has followed suit on the sanctions imposed on Russia.

In the context of the threat to peace and stability in the region, the President expressed concern about the augmentation of the Russian influence in the region through Serbia and its destabilizing tendencies.

In relation to the dialogue with Serbia, President Osmani has reiterated that Kosovo continues to be a constructive party and that the only solution that contributes to the peace and stability of the region is mutual recognition.

According to the President, Kosovo's engagement in the dialogue is based on the protection of the sovereignty, constitutional order and territorial integrity of Kosovo. Furthermore, the President emphasized that Serbia has stalled in the implementation of the energy roadmap, has blocked the agreement on the forcibly disappeared and has raised tensions on the issue of car license plates, through attacks by illegal and criminal structures in the north on the Kosovo Police.

At the meeting with Mrs. DiCarlo, Madam President welcomed her participation at the Women, Peace and Security Forum which will take place on October 22-23rd in Pristina.
