The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and at the same time Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Donika Gërvalla-Schwarz, met with the head of the US Mission in New York Linda Thomas-Greenfield, with whom she discussed the general developments in the region and beyond, as well as the consequences of the Russian aggression on Ukraine.

President Osmani thanked Ambassador Greenfield for the support and emphasized that Kosovo's partnership with the USA is of strategic importance. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield expressed gratitude for Kosovo's engagement in the Summit for Democracy and the partnership demonstrated by its stance on the war in Ukraine and the reception of Afghan refugees. President Osmani expressed her gratitude for the unwavering US support for Kosovo and from President Biden, whom she met two days ago.

A part of the meeting was dedicated to the dialogue with Serbia. President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo is fully committed to the dialogue process. Citing President Biden's position, President Osmani emphasized that the dialogue with Serbia should focus on mutual recognition.

According to the President, Serbia is trying to block progress in the dialogue through obstructions and in this context stated that the Serbian side has stalled in the implementation of the energy roadmap, has blocked the agreement on the forcibly disappeared and is trying to cause destabilization through illegal structures in the north of the country.

Both interlocutors agreed that it is time to bring to an end the UNMIK Mission in Kosovo.
