The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Donika Gërvalla-Schwarz, is participating at the international conference on democracy and freedom of the press, Colloquium M100 Sanssouci. German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, as well as diplomats, journalists and representatives from academia and civil society from all over the world are also attending the conference.
In a special discussion of this conference dedicated to the security strategy in Europe, President Osmani emphasized that the Republic of Kosovo is an example of guaranteeing sustainable peace in the region and beyond, as well as a success story in strengthening media freedom and democracy. In this direction, President Osmani spoke about the continuous growth of Kosovo in international indices of freedom and democracy, as evidence of the steadfast commitment of the people of Kosovo and its institutions to democratic values.
President Osmani pointed out that the Republic of Kosovo is a factor of stability in the region and Europe, and through concrete actions has demonstrated that it is a reliable partner of the Western democracy. President Osmani singled out Kosovo's commitment to further strengthen alliances with our European and American partners through full coordination of foreign policy on international developments, including the war on Ukraine and support to the Ukrainian people. Madam President emphasized the importance of the membership of the Republic of Kosovo and all other democratic and coordinating states in the EU and NATO, in order for Europe to become even stronger and more united against the challenges it faces.
The President, among other things, called for support to the Republic of Kosovo for its membership in regional and international organizations, as well as for the urgency in the conclusion of the visa liberalization process for the citizens of Kosovo.
The aim of the M100 Colloquium Sanssouci international conference is conversation and interaction between representatives from politics, media and academia from all over Europe and beyond related to the prospects for a free and democratic Europe in the face of a new world order and the role of the media in this process.
