The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, together with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, received at a meeting the families of Arben Xheladini and Mon Balaj.
President Osmani, based on her constitutional and legal competencies and after the proposal made by the MP's of the Republic of Kosovo and the recommendation of the Commission for awarding of honours, awarded today the Presidential Medal of Merit, with motivation for bravery and civic activism, for the contribution given by Arben Xheladini and by Mon Balaj.
“Naturally on this date, apart from the show of respect, we must also reiterate our call for justice, because they were unjustly killed and despite the investigation and despite the assessment of international organizations that this has been a violation of the human rights, the violence used that resulted in their murder has been a violation of human rights. “Unfortunately, no one has yet been brought to justice for their murder”, emphasized President Osmani.
President Osmani also added that as institutions of the Republic of Kosovo while we show respect for them, for their families, for each of you, ” and despite the great loss of your loved ones, you have shown determination and continuous contribution to the independent and sovereign state of Kosovo”. The head of the country further said that she believes that it is important to continue with our calls for the international community to provide its contribution, in order for justice to be brought to its place for Moni and Arben.
The Commission for awarding of honours has also reached a decision to bestow a number of awards, which will be issued in the coming days.
