The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani at a ceremony held at the Presidency, in continuation of the activities aimed at raising breast cancer awareness and treatment and with the motivation towards the promotion of human values and professional integrity awarded the “St. Teresa” Presidential Medal to the “Jeta-Vita” organisation and to oncologist Ernesa Xhafa who works in Great Britain.
The non-governmental organization “Jeta-Vita” engages in raising public awareness about breast cancer and its early detection.
President Osmani praised the work of this organization and stressed that courage in acting saves lives, as does the correct information in raising the awareness and protection against breast cancer. According to her, the commitment to cancer awareness and treatment should be a year-long activity.
“The goal of this organisation is more than clear: breast cancer, to be detected, treated and that information reaches every woman in every Kosovar home”, said President Osmani.
Meanwhile, oncologist Xhafa with her professional commitment and voluntary contribution has provided invaluable assistance to Kosovar patients affected by breast cancer. According to President Osmani, the engagement of Dr. Ernesa has increased the hope of those suffering from breast cancer.
“Dr. Ernesa's work is an inspiration to all people, to those who were touched by cancer and for those who are being treated for it. This proves that effort and courage make victory possible when you are close to a humanitarian like Dr. Ernesa”, said President Osmani.
President Osmani has expressed her hope that “Jeta-Vita” organisation and oncologist Ernesa Xhafa will continue their humanitarian engagements in reducing human pain, saving lives and raising awareness for the risks this illness carries.
