President Osmani and Deputy Prime Minister Gërvalla-Schwarz met with the NATO Secretary – General, Jens Stoltenberg

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani and Deputy Prime Minister Donika Gërvalla-Schwarz, at the same time Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, during their visit to New York, met with NATO Secretary – General Jens Stoltenberg.

Kosovo is grateful for NATO's continuous support in maintaining stability and peace, emphasized President Osmani at the meeting with Secretary Stoltenberg. According to President Osmani, Kosovo's strategic goal remains membership in the Euro-Atlantic community.

President Osmani stated at the meeting with NATO leader that membership in the European Union and NATO will contribute to increased security and stability in the region and classified membership in this organization as a state priority of Kosovo and a prerequisite for ensuring peace in the region, as well as for the promotion and protection of common values.

President Osmani also specified that this step should be preceded by the inclusion of Kosovo in the Partnership for Peace. In this context, she mentioned the fact that Kosovo Security Force, which is being developed in accordance with NATO standards, will enable Kosovo to play an active role in regional and global security.

Regarding Russia's aggression on Ukraine, President Osmani said that Kosovo has condemned Putin's unprovoked war against Ukraine and that it is fully in line with EU and US sanctions against Russia. In this regard, President Osmani stated the need for the coordination of democratic states of the region with NATO to ensure a safe environment and to stop the destabilizing actions of Russia and its proxies.
