President Jahjaga visited the Islamic Community of Kosovo

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga visited the headquarters of the Islamic Community of Kosovo, where she was welcomed by the Mufti Naim Tërnava and other leaders of this community, whom she congratulated for the feast of Eid al-Fitr.

I congratulate you for the day of Eid al-Fitr with the wishes that you pass this holiday in happiness and prosperity with family members, relatives and friends. This blessed day comes after the Grand month of Ramadan, the month of fasting, the month of strengthening of the soul and purification of the body, the month when a man tries and proves himself to believe in himself and faith and love for God, said President Jahjaga during to the Islamic Community of Kosovo.

This is a traditional feast of our people, which is one of the pillars of trust, commitment, willpower, assistance and support. We, during the whole time do a lot of good deeds but on this day more than usually we remember the others, we see people who need us, as an act that doesn’t make us proud but pushes us to think that all people must have equal conditions and opportunities for life, for education, work and progress, she continued.

Our people respect each other and cultivate religious tolerance. We as a people and country are part the European civilization, whereas the Islamic faith is part of the collective being of our people, she said.

President Jahjaga said that Kosovo’s Islamic community is playing a progressive role, which it has also played in the past and was always near the people of Kosovo throughout the crucial times of our history and destiny. I am totally convinced that the Islamic Community will continue to have this role in the future, in dynamic times in which we are passing on the path of Euro-Atlantic integration.

The Republic of Kosovo has an important place in the region as a factor of peace and stability and will join the European Union, the United Nations and NATO. Here we see ourselves and this is the only option to advance the people, to develop the economy, to reform education and that our youth to be youth who follow contemporary trends and own the technology and innovation, added Mrs. Jahjaga.

Even you as all our society pass through transformations and have your challenges. It is important that the aims and objectives are achieved in democratic demands and democratic procedures, which do not prejudice and do not impose. The values of parliamentary democracy, nation-building values of power division but also the separation of religion from the state are values demonstrated by time as the best and most appropriate for harmonization of views and attitudes, said President Jahjaga.

Your request to build a larger mosque or an Islamic center is just and it will find support. The procedures of finding the location and construction should be harmonized and bring benefit and goods for everyone. You know that things are not made to be seen, nor to be compared, but they are made to function and meet the needs. You’ve thought about these things and know that Islam is part of the values of civilization. Even the man who is a creature of God, with all the gifts he has, health, mind, honesty courage ... I am mentioning only some features of it as a being, is not self-sufficient, but only in cooperation with others in exchange of values realizes himself and the mission for which God has created him, said President Jahjaga.

By congratulating you once again on this great day by wishing you good health, and success we should remember that tolerance and understanding are values on which the society is built and operates, stressed The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga during her visit to the headquarters of the Islamic Community of Kosovo.

For his part, the Mufti of Kosovo, Naim Tërnava Atifete thanked Jahjaga President for the visit, noting the good cooperation with this institution, and wishing her success in her important tasks of the state.
