President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, participated today at the opening of the proceedings of the 49th International Conference on Security, which is being held in the German city of Munich.
Conference on Security, organised annually in Munich, has gathered a number of statesmen and government leaders as well as senior personalities from around the world.
Prior to the conference, President Jahjaga had a brief meeting with the organiser of this conference, former German diplomat, Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger.
This conference is also being attended by the former President of Finland, Mr. Marti Ahtisaari, President of Croatia- Mr. Ivo Josipović, President of Macedonia- Mr. Gjorgje Ivanov, Prime Minister of Albania- Mr. Sali Berisha, Prime Minister of Montenegro- Mr. Milo Đukanović and many former Presidents , Prime Ministers and Ministers from many countries of the world.
This three day conference which commenced its proceedings this afternoon, is addressing the issues of the regional security. At separate panels, the issues of security in specific regions around the globe are being discussed.
Tomorrow, the conference will be attended by Baroness Catherine Ashton, NATO General Secretary Anders Fogh Rasmussen, US Vice President Joseph Biden and the Foreign Affairs Minister of Russia, Sergey Lavrov.
