President Jahjaga received the President of the Senate of the Parliament of Netherlands, Mr. Fred De Graaf

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting the President of the Senate of the Parliament of Netherlands, Mr. Fred De Graaf.

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting the President of the Senate of the Parliament of Netherlands, Mr. Fred De Graaf.

Madam President and Mr. De Graaf discussed the processes that Kosovo has been through since the declaration of independence and advancement of the democratic processes in our country.

President Jahjaga stated that Kingdom of Netherlands has provided a continuous contribution to Kosovo and democratic processes it has been going through.

President Jahjaga stated that Kosovo is a factor of peace and stability in the region and it remains dedicated to its European future, to the fulfilment of all required standards which will bring it closer to European Union and establishment of good neighbourly relations with all the countries of the region,

President Jahjaga and Senate President De Graaf also spoke about the dialogue process between the Republic of Kosovo and Republic of Serbia, being held at Prime Ministerial level and facilitated by EU, as the only way towards the normalisation of relations between the two countries and easing of the lives for citizens on both sides of the border.

President Jahjaga also stated that the future of the western Balkans is in European Union and said that the institutions of Kosovo are dedicated to the fulfilment of all the required criteria in order to accelerate the EU integration process.

President of the Senate of the Parliament of Netherlands, Mr. De Graaf, said that this is his first to Kosovo and praised the progress that Kosovo has achieved in these five years of independence in order to create a multiethnic society and guarantee the rights of each community in the country.

Mr. De Graaf also praised the dedication of the institutions of Kosovo in facing of the challenges towards the consolidation of the democratic state and emphasized the role that parliament plays in this process.
