President Jahjaga received the head of the Judicial Council of Kosovo

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga received today the head of the Judicial Council of Kosovo, Mr. Enver Peci. Mr. Peci informed the President with work the Judicial Council is doing and with its commitments in the area of justice in Kosovo. He said that the Judicial Council has a good cooperation with other institutions of justice in Kosovo.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga said that the level of democracy and the functioning of the judicial system in Kosovo depend, to a large extent, on the work of the judges and prosecutors, who must be impartial, honest and without any compromise in implementing the law.

President Jahjaga said that the independence and impartiality of the judiciary is one of the pillars of democracy in the country.

President Jahjaga said that the Judicial Council plays a key role in the selection and assignment of the judges which must to be done with professional criteria, based on the ethics of the profession and observance of the criteria of national and gender representation.
