The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga received today the former UN envoy for the Kosovo status, Mr. Albert Rohan, accompanied by the Austrian ambassador in Kosovo, Mr. Johann Brieger.

President Jahjaga and Mr. Rohan discussed about the current developments in Kosovo, the integration processes through which the country is running, the neighborly relations in the region and with the EU as well as the completion of the surveillance phase of the independence of Kosovo.

The two interlocutors also talked for the advancement of Kosovo’s international position and the engagement of Mr. Rohan in the group “Friends of Kosovo”.

President Jahjaga said that Kosovo is marking progress in the integration processes and that upon receipt of the feasibility study for the Stabilization and Association Agreement, the Republic of Kosovo and the EU have opened a new chapter of relations between them. She said that the Republic of Kosovo is a state built on the civic principle which guarantees equal rights for citizens of all communities.

The former UN envoy for the Kosovo status, Mr. Albert Rohan, said that Kosovo has made progress in various fields but said it needs to take the necessary steps to fully implement the Ahtisaari Plan, in particular in the three municipalities in the north of Kosovo, to successfully complete the surveillance phase of the independence.
