The President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga, met today with the Foreign Minister of Belgium, Steven Vanackere.
Minister Vanackere congratulated the President for her election and expressed the readiness of Belgium to continue assistance to Kosovo in all areas.
The Belgian Minister supported the started dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, as a first step towards normalization of relations between them.
He said that Kosovo should make fundamental internal changes and have an institutional approach to illegal migration of its citizens in EU countries, steps these which would enable the beginning of the dialogue process on visa liberalization for Kosovo.
The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, thanked the Belgian Minister for the support his country has given to Kosovo in all phases of its construction and urged the continuation of aid in the process of increasing international recognition, especially from the 5 EU member countries who have not yet done so.
The president said that the opening of the dialogue process for liberalization of visas for the citizens of Kosovo is of special importance for the country and said that Kosovo can not remain the only isolated country in the region. She said that the contractual relationship with the EU would facilitate addressing the current challenges and help the reform process in the country.
