President Jahjaga received the draft National Strategy on European Integrations

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting the European Integrations Minister Ms. Vlora Çitaku and the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on European Integrations, Mr. Lutfi Haziri, who as co-chairs of the Task Force on European Integrations, officially submitted the draft of the first National Strategy on European Integrations “Kosovo 2020: An all inclusive approach”.

Drafting of the National Strategy on European Integrations was initiated in March 2012, at the inaugural meeting of the National Council on European Integrations, which was established by President Jahjaga in order to enable an institutional coordination of activities.

The establishment of the Task Force on European Integrations was proposed at this meeting, with a mandate to draft the National Strategy and to ensure the full consensus of all stakeholders of the Kosovar society and which would reflect the joint vision and aim of our country towards membership into European Union.

President Jahjaga congratulated the co-chairs of the Task Force on successfuly completion of the process, process which enjoyed the support of all the institutions, political parties, civil society, academia, business sector as well as other relevant sectors of the society.

President Jahjaga said that the National Strategy on European Integration will be disscussed and approved at the next meeting of the National Council on European Integration.

Minister Çitaku and committee chairman Haziri presented the above mentioned draft document and stated that the document incorporates the work and consultations of over 1000 Kosovar participants, of the experts in their respective fields, who contributed to the analysis of the current situation, challenges and identification of the benchmarks which our country must reach until 2020, in order to expedite the European integrations process of the Republic of Kosovo.

As well as addressing the specifics of the Republic of Kosovo, the strategy also incorporates the positive experiences of other countries during their European integration processes.
