President Jahjaga received the Chief State Prosecutor, Mr. Ismet Kabashi

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting the Chief State Prosecutor, Mr. Ismet Kabashi.

Mr. Kabashi presented President Jahjaga with two documents from the Prosecutorial Council of Kosovo; the Working Reports of the Basic Prosecutions, of the Special Prosecution Office of the Republic of Kosovo, Appellate Prosecution Office and of the State Prosecution, as well as the report on harmonisation of statistics. The last report was prepared by PCK and is a document of the inter-institutional follow up mechanism on the harmonisation of the statistics on particular penal acts and is also part of the fundamental work of the Prosecutorial Council of Kosovo towards the fulfilment of the criteria for visa liberalisation and of the Stabilisation-Association Agreement.

Both documents handed in today by the Chief State Prosecutor resulted from the recommendations given at the meetings of the National Anti-Corruption Council, which was established and is being led by the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga.
 
Chief State Prosecutor, Mr. Ismet Kabashi, informed Madam President that the Prosecutorial Council of Kosovo will very soon approve the decision on handling with priority all outstanding cases of penal acts related to corruption, establishing a time frame of June 30th 2014. Mr. Kabashi emphasized that Prosecutorial Council of Kosovo will be working with additional capacities in order to achieve results in the field of fighting of corruption and organised crime.

This decision reached by PCK is also a part of recommendations submitted at the meetings of the National Anti-Corruption Council.

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, emphasized that establishment of the rule of law and order is a priority of all institutions of Kosovo and in order to achieve this objective it is necessary to coordinate and correlate the activities of all the institutions and mechanisms mandated to fight corruption and organised crime, which is also the mission of the National Anti-Corruption Council.

President Jahjaga and Chief State Prosecutor Kabashi also discussed the process of municipal elections in Kosovo, which will be held in the whole territory of the country on November 3rd and stated that they must be safe, free, democratic, fair and honest.
