President Jahjaga received Albania’s newly elected Prime Minister, Mr. Edi Rama

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today the newly elected Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania, Mr. Edi Rama, who is visiting Kosovo on an official visit.

President Jahjaga wished a warm welcome to the newly elected Prime Minister Rama, congratulating him on free and democratic parliamentary elections. She emphasized that it is a duty of the leaders of the country to offer political platforms and developmental programs, which aim the advancement of the country and which enjoy the support of the people.

President Jahjaga stated that Kosovo and Albania have achieved considerable advancements and have all the opportunities to present their best values, with the incessant support of the United States and European Union.

President Jahjaga stated the importance of joint projects in the field of utilisation of natural resources of both countries and in regional plan, adding that “we are proprietors of an important potential, the youth, and the need for bringing to life their dreams and the importance of their inclusion in the development of both countries”.

President Jahjaga praised highly the importance of cooperation towards the EU membership and said that Kosovo could learn from the reforms which Albania has already undertaken towards fulfilment of the criteria necessary for membership. She also praised Mr. Rama’s engagements towards building of bridges of cooperation as a good contribution for a better future and peace and stability in the region.

Mr. Rama praised the role of President Jahjaga and the rest of the leadership of Kosovo in the process of the normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, emphasizing that this process has opened a new era of regional cooperation, he expressed the dedication of his government towards the joint projects and creation of a platform of, as he said, strategic co-governance between the two governments, which will aim for the inclusion of the countries of the region and their support by the international financiers.

He also expressed the importance of creation of long term projects and expressed the dedication of his government towards the exchange between the two countries, which will be in function of coming generation, in particular in the field of education, culture and sport.
