President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting a delegation of the Council for Foreign Policy of Egypt, chaired by the Ambassador Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Mahmoud Shaker, and its members, Ambassador Dr. El-Sayed Amin Hussein Shalaby and Ambassador Dr. Sayed Kassem Elmasry.
President Jahjaga praised the endeavours and the engagement of Egypt in support of the Republic of Kosovo and particularly in help provided by Egypt on Kosovo’s membership in international organisations.
Madam President said that recognition of the independence of Kosovo by Egypt is important and will contribute to the establishment of relations between two countries, towards expansion of cooperation in all fields and will help towards further consolidation of statehood of Kosovo. She also said that Egypt’s help is required towards recognition of Kosovo by member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Countries.
Speaking about the agreements achieved through the dialogue process with Republic of Serbia, process this facilitated by the EU and supported by USA, President Jahjaga said that they must be implemented fully, as they ease the lives of citizens on both sides of the border and help towards relaxation of the relations between two sovereign and independent states. She also stated that both countries aspire EU membership and they must nurture good neighbourly relations which will in turn help the peace and stability in the Balkans region.
Chairman of the delegation from Egypt, Ambassador Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Mahmoud Shaker said that his country recognises the whole sacrifice and the activities of the people of Kosovo for independence and building of a democratic state. He said that the delegation’s visit will provide an impetus to the establishment and improvement of the relations between two countries. Ambassador Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Mahmoud Shaker said that his country supports Kosovo in all fields.
