President Jahjaga received a delegation of APJK and the Chief Editors and Editors of the Kosovar media

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga received today a delegation of the Association of Professional Journalists of Kosovo (AGPK) and the Chief Editors and editors of the media in Kosovo.

The representatives of the APJK and the media in Kosovo expressed their concerns with the Criminal Code and handed to President Jahjaga their written proposals for further proceedings on the Criminal Code dealing with the freedom of expression.

The representatives of the Kosovar media demanded from President Jahjaga to return the Criminal Code to review in the Assembly of Kosovo, especially Articles 37 and 38 of the Code.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga, in her welcoming for the media representatives, stressed that she is notified about their concerns.

President Jahjaga said that the conversation with the representatives of the media is done in order that their arguments are heard on the preoccupations they raise and to find solutions that will help the advancement of democratic practices in the country.

President Jahjaga said that meetings with media representatives are necessary and essential to open various and free topics and dealing with “the progress of the country and the democratic processes, freedom of expression and all matters considered common interest”.

Otherwise, the Criminal Code, voted in the Assembly last week, has not yet reached the Office of the President of the Republic of Kosovo.
