President Jahjaga met with the President of Bulgaria, Mr. Rosen Plevneliev

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga met today with the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Mr. Rosen Plevneliev, to whom she conveyed her appreciation for the support that his country is providing to Kosovo, particularly in the participations of Kosovo in the regional organisations and initiatives.

President Jahjaga said that the cooperation between Kosovo and Bulgaria must be expanded in all the fields, including the fields of economy and investments. She also said that Bulgaria could provide help to Kosovo in its EU integration process   and towards Kosovo’s membership in NATO Partnership for Peace.

President Jahjaga stated that Kosovo has made advances in its path towards its EU integration by receiving the visa liberalisation roadmap and Feasibility Study and emphasized the necessity of the support that Bulgaria can provide for these two processes. It is important that Kosovo signs the Stabilisation-Association Agreement, as this would create new possibilities for foreign investments in Kosovo and for its economic development.

Speaking in relation to the end of the supervisory stage of the independence of Kosovo, President Jahjaga said that this is a joint success of the citizens and institutions of Kosovo and of the international community and stated that Kosovo, as a sovereign and independent country has taken upon itself all the related responsibilities in guaranteeing the rights of all the communities.

She also said that Republic of Kosovo has become a factor of peace and stability in the region and a promoter of good neighbourliness. Republic of Kosovo is interested in establishing good and neighbourly relations with the Republic of Serbia as well, and wants the republic of Serbia to recognise the reality in Kosovo and renounce the support it is giving to the illegal and criminal structures in the north of Kosovo. President Jahjaga said that the institutions of Kosovo are ready to dialogue with the ethnic Serbian citizens of the Republic of Kosovo in the three municipalities, with the intention to include them in the institutional life of the republic of Kosovo.

President of Bulgaria, Mr. Rosen Plevneliev, commended the very good relations between Bulgaria and Kosovo and said that his country is ready to help Kosovo in all its democratic processes and in the process of European Integrations. President Plevneliev stated that the Balkan region has a clear European perspective and that Bulgaria and Kosovo must develop intensified relations in regional cooperation.

President Plevneliev also stated Bulgaria’s readiness for a broad cooperation with Kosovo and especially in the field of economic development and investments.

President of the Republic of Bulgaria said that his country will continue its efforts in support of Kosovo’s representation in regional initiatives and other international organisations.
