President Jahjaga met with the Foreign Minister of South Sudan, Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, met today with the Foreign Affairs Minister of South Sudan, Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin.

President Jahjaga informed Minister Benjamin with achievements of Kosovo and with the process of the international consolidation of the country. She said that Kosovo, since independence in 2008, has been recognised by 108 countries of the world, and is already a member of the IMF, World Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and aims membership in all international institutions, especially in the UN.

President Jahjaga said that Kosovo’s independence has been legitimized by the International Court of Justice, and today is a country which promotes peace, stability and good neighbourliness with all countries.

President Jahjaga potentiated the importance of recognition by South Sudan and building of good mutual relations.

South Sudan’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr, Barnaba Marial Benjamin, praised the achievements of Kosovo, especially the advances in dialogue process with Serbia on normalization of relations. He also said that South Sudan is considering with seriousness the recognition of the independence and will follow all the procedures in order to do so.
