President Jahjaga met with Dr. Johannes Kyrle

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga received today the Secretary General of of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Johannes Kyrle, who was accompanied by the Austrian ambassador in Kosovo, Mr. Johann Brieger.

President Jahjaga praised the continued help and support of Austria for Kosovo and stressed that both countries have a close interstate cooperation in various fields, particularly in the field of education and energy. She singled out the importance of Austrian projects in the energy sector and stressed the need for intensification of such investments, which will enable economic development.

She said that Kosovo is a factor of stability and peace in the region and the promoter of good neighborliness, and considered that the only way of the Western Balkans is that of Euro-Atlantic integrations.

Stressing the importance of acquiring the guidelines and the beginning of the feasibility study for the Stabilization and Association Agreement, President Jahjaga, said that the Kosovo institutions are committed to meet all standards and criteria needed to accelerate the integration processes.

She stressed the necessity of implementing all the agreements reached in the dialogue with the Republic of Serbia, which is mediated and facilitated by the EU.

President Jahjaga also spoke about establishing the rule of law in the whole territory of the Republic of Kosovo, with special emphasis on the three municipalities in north of the country, where Serbian illegal and criminal structures, supported by the Republic of Serbia, are holding the Serbian citizens hostage in this part. She stressed that the only solution for these municipalities is the full implementation of the Ahtisaari package, which offers a wide range of rights for the Serb community.

General Secretary Dr. Johannes Kyrle, expressed the continuous support of the Austrian government for Kosovo and its path to Euro-Atlantic integrations. Dr. Kyrle said that the future of the entire region is integration into the European Union. He said that the support of the Austrian government is concrete and through its presence in different areas in Kosovo and stressed that the cooperation between the two countries will be further intensified.
